It’s time to think different Apple. It looks as though the dominance of the iPhone may be coming to an end so to speak. Google and Verizon have announced a strategic partnership putting Google’s Android on the Verizon network. This will bring a number of new Android based phones to market in the very near future.
With the iPhone currently tethered to AT&T, Verizon boasts an overall better 3G network which is holding the iPhone back from reaching its true potential in the marketplace. For years, customers of Verizon have had few real choices when it comes to smart phones, but Android could fill that void. With most companies including Verizon having the standard two year agreement, Apple may end up losing a large mass of would be customers. It will be interesting to watch as this race heats up and how the selection of apps between Android and the iPhone stack up.
